PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello friends,
I hope this message finds you all well - cruising through the lighter summer traffic patterns, enjoying a little more sunshine, and hitting the town to take in our region's great local summer events!
We spend so much of the year waiting for this season to arrive and bring with it a two to three month respite from the grind. Summer! A time to play and relax! I find though, that I have far too many days to dream up my summer plans and far too few to bring them to life.
Inevitably, I'll start brutally triaging the plans I had been nurturing through the winter and spring. Camping? I guess we can do it in the fall… Two parks instead of three… I guess fossil hunting in southern Ohio can wait until spring break… (tbh I'm on year 3 with this one)
It's never easy to whittle down one's zest for adventure but it usually pays off in the end. Being overextended and perpetually rushed tends to diminish those moments you so painstakingly crafted in your imaginings during the months-long Ohio gray season.
Do you find you’re frequently overextended in your work? If not, could you write a few things down for the rest of us? I'm thinking of pamphlet…a tri-fold…maybe a book. If so, is it due to an overabundance of ideas, or work to be done, or others needing your assistance? Are there opportunities to whittle things down so that you can both have and provide a richer experience?
No matter how you've jumped in, may your summer be long enough to make great memories.
See you soon,
Elizabeth Garrabrant
