PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings members,
Fall is officially here, and there’s only 3 more months until 2021. Yes, I could really do without this last quarter. Like all of us, I am ready for COVID to go away so we can stop being so anxious! However, the close of 2020 presents me an opportunity for reflection. I cannot but help register some concern, but as I move closer to year end and move toward the future, I do feel hopeful. I can take some pride in a few of my 2020 accomplishments - we all have our positive and negative lists. But, I want to continue to build and improve, and so I am striving to focus only on positives this quarter!
One of my positives is being President of this awesome network. I want to build our organization and motivate our membership to continue their aspirations for excellence in Volunteer Administration and Service. In order for this to happen, and for VAN to continue and grow, we need a few new board members added to our team. Are you looking for a new opportunity? We are looking for the following Board positions: Professional Development Co-Chair, Membership Co-Chair, and Web Coordinator. Please help ensure that VAN’s future is kept alive and vibrant by joining us!
Finally, another positive thing to look forward to is our next Professional Development event on Thursday, October 15th. Everyone has different strengths and hesitations when it comes to public speaking. I do well on Zoom but put me in front of an audience of more than 10 people, I just become an anxious mess! I look forward to hearing Ms. Stephanie Sparrow Hughes from LifeCare Alliance present on Public Speaking. As someone who excels in this area, we can all hope to learn from Stephanie’s experience and gain some new tips and tools to use in the coming year!

ServeOhio's Ohio Conference on Service and Volunteerism Begins Next Thursday!
This year, ServeOhio is hosting a free virtual conference! Sessions will occur on Thursday afternoons from 1pm-3pm. The dates of the conference are ongoing - October 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th.
