PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Happy Summer VAN Members,
The Summer months are here, and I hope everyone is getting out and the enjoying the fantastic weather. The end of COVID restrictions have changed how we work and play! Our work is no longer strictly bound to the confines of a typical office. While COVID made it necessary, other factors have made working remotely popular — including greater connectivity, changing corporate values, and making digital team platforms more common.
However, one downside of COVID is the reduction in member organizations and members in general. Many companies could not continue their membership due to reduced income, or reduced manpower. We were not immune to the reduction in new memberships during 2020. We need to build our membership for many reasons, not just income. New members bring new energy, new ideas, and more people, who can then serve on committees, work on projects, and help develop exciting events. We need new members to help the organization accomplish more and broaden the reach of the organization.
I would ask that all existing members reach out to at least one person and invite them to join us for a Professional Development session, always held on the third Thursday monthly. It is my hope that your guest will see value in joining our organization. Most of our members come from the not-for-profit community, but we also welcome members from corporations who seek volunteer administration professional development and networking opportunities.
