VANtage: January 2022

Galen Roth | Published on 1/18/2022

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings Members and Member Organizations,

Our 2022 goal remains to be Ready, Relevant, and Responsive. READY to provide you with more RELEVANT services and Professional Development sessions. Be more RESPONSIVE to your requests and needs. We are stepping up our efforts to bring you a more appealing and engaging professional development series. We will increase our future fellowship meetups online and hopefully in person, where we can share our experiences, old and new; and just have some good old fashion fun. We also are looking at ways to be more informative on our website.

It is with sincere pleasure I introduce our new Vice President, Christa Passafiume and a new board member, Shannon Maurer, joining us to help with Website/Public Relations. Their great talent, skills, and experiences will really help VAN obtain our goals for 2022. We are really very happy to have them as a part of our board. You can learn a little bit about them below!

Please attend our first Professional Development session of 2022 on Thursday, January 20th at 9:00 am and meet both of them. If you have ideas to help us improve our professional development series or fellowship meetups, please share. You can go to our website, Volunteer Administrators' Network of Central Ohio (vancentralohio.org). Click on Contact Us, send us a message. You can join us on January 20th and share your ideas as well.

Gerlinde Higginbotham
VAN President

MEET THE NEW BOARD MEMBERS!
Shannon Maurer  - VAN Website/Public Relations Chair: Shannon serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Dublin. She has a background in community engagement, government policy and client relations as well as a passion for inspiring, educating and mentoring young people. A daughter to a retired public school teacher and local fire captain, service to her community has always been in her blood stream. She is entering her fifth year with the City of Dublin where she is successfully coordinating and leading volunteer programs citywide. Shannon is a proud alumna of The Ohio State University where she holds a degree in Psychology.

Christa Passafiume - VAN Vice President: Christa is the Director of Operations at Worthington Resource Pantry. She supports volunteers and manages all aspects of operations, and has been with the organization since 2018. Christa has experience in working at other non-profit organizations in the areas of volunteer and program management. She has been a member of the Volunteer Administrator’s Network for 3 years. This last year, she served on the board as the public relations co-chair, and is excited to step into the new role of Vice President and continue to build upon the success of the organization.

Christa’s inspiration comes from watching the whole community come together to carry out our mission. She says, “I am grateful for the opportunity to interact with each neighbor, volunteer, and donor that comes through the pantry. I am constantly motivated by our neighbors and volunteers alike, through their dedication to provide for their families and for each other.”
