PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings Members and Member Organizations,

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and staying healthy. I am always trying to refresh my presentations to our volunteers. I came across an online article, and I thought maybe it would be a breath of freshness to share some of the content, Seven Reasons Why Volunteering is Fun. This article might be a wonderful icebreaker to start an open conversation with volunteers to voice their reasons. I am going to quote just a couple for this message but the full article is informative.

•  "You Get to Meet New People Who Are Likeminded - The first reason why volunteering is such a great usage of your time is the fact that you’re going to be able to meet other people who are like-minded. These people are going to be positive, outgoing, and have a strong sense of helping out the world."
• "You Can Use This Experience on Your Resume - Of course, volunteering can also help you out on the job hunt."
• "You Can Improve Your Community - Of course, the last point that we’re going to mention is the fact that you can improve your community when you volunteer."

Have your recruitment efforts taken a hit lately? Are you looking for additional volunteers or free and easy ways to retain your current volunteers longer? We have the answer for you!  Partner with AmeriCorps Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)!  RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 years and over. RSVP partners with nonprofits, religious organizations, government agencies, and proprietary health organizations like yours. We recruit and match adults 55+ to volunteer opportunities by linking the skills of the volunteers with the identified needs of the community. Currently, over 950,000 RSVP volunteers are joining forces to make an impact locally and nationally by volunteering at over 50,000 volunteer locations across the country. We are here to help share the countless services your organizations offer to the community and bring you new volunteers to help execute their mission. Join us virtually at the next VAN meeting to learn how you can partner with AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in Franklin and Delaware County. RENEW YOUR VAN MEMBERSHIP
The time has come for many of us to renew our memberships! Although membership can be purchased at any point during the year now, historically this is the time many of our members signed up. Don't forget to check the VAN website (vancentralohio.org) to see if your renewal is due.

Save the date! The 2022 Ohio Conference on Service and Volunteerism will be November 3rd, 2022. The conference will he held in-person at Quest Conference Center in Columbus.
