PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hello Friends,
As I look back through the beginning of 2020 I can't help but think about all of the best laid plans that were made, then postponed, then deconstructed, then reimagined through video chats. So. Many. Plans. Such a muddy mess!
Now that we're over 8 weeks in, I'm finding that looking ahead isn't any clearer. What will happen next? What facts will we receive? What reactions will those facts prompt? How will society respond? We are in a profession where most of our sentences are interrogative rather than declarative, so we should be used to such a situation...and yet, the scale of it feels inconceivable.
Please don't read this as panic or fear - it's sheer wonder. I have no idea what to expect for the rest of May, let alone the remainder of 2020, but I look forward to being a part of sorting it out and bringing about the best possible resolution. I'm pleased and relieved to have colleagues across the region, state, country, and world who have been quietly training for this with each passing volunteer event, fiscal budget, grant demand, and project. We're ready for this! I hope you'll all be able to join us for the June 2nd Zoom Meet-Up to share thoughts, experiences, and oh-so-tentative plans for the future.
