VANtage: August 2021

Galen Roth | Published on 8/11/2021

Greetings VAN Members,

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and staying healthy. I came across an online article, and I thought maybe it would be a breath of freshness to share with you instead of reading my words:

“Leadership is not a title; Leading volunteers will probably not become the most coveted job in the world in your lifetime. But much progress is being made and that’s where true leadership comes in, because Volunteer Engagement is probably not going to “go viral” anytime soon. True leadership is the day-to-day hard work you do. It’s the passion you feel, the challenges you accept, the example you set, and the belief you have in yourself and your peers that what you love is essential in making our world a better place.

Leadership is going beyond, by educating yourself, attending conferences, helping your peers, sharing best practices, crafting reports that show volunteer value, demonstrating volunteer value and impact whenever and wherever you are. It’s furthering our profession by caring about it, with all its warts.”

Wow! I thought this was very powerful. As Leaders you are valued! Celebrate you who are, and know your Volunteers appreciate you as well. VAN wants to celebrate you as well: Save the Date September 16th, from 9 am – 10:30 am join us (in person) at Park of Roses for some networking and great conversation regarding lessons learned from the last year. Look for our formal announcement coming soon!
Thank you for your continued support of the Volunteer Administrators’ Network of Central Ohio.

See your VANtage newsletter for Zoom information.

We're getting closer to seeing each other again! Pencil in that the September 16th meeting will be an outdoor, in-person gathering. (As long as health guidelines permit, of course!) A separate email later this month will include a link to RSVP!

A few years ago, we revised our membership model so you can start your annual membership anytime. Many members are still on that historical timeline of renewal in June. So if you haven't done so, please visit the website and renew today! Or if you haven't made the jump to becoming a member yet, please make sure you do! You won't want to miss the upcoming in-person meetings or the rest of this year's speakers! Visit to renew or join.

Our website is now listing job postings in central Ohio!
