VANtage: November 2022

Galen Roth | Published on 12/2/2022

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings Members and Member Organizations,

Wow! Where did 2022 go?! It’s November already, and I am beginning to look forward to a fantastic 2023.

I know it’s early, but in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I, and the Board of VAN, would like to say thank you for your exceptional work this year as volunteers and in the management of volunteers. We are so fortunate to have such a group of hardworking and committed members as you. Thank you for always being there for us and each other.

We are also still looking to fill some board positions, such as Membership, Professional Development, Website Coordinator, and Treasurer. If you want to inspire and have the capacity to serve please join us. Being on the VAN board is exhilarating and a learning experience. I have learned much more about Volunteer administration, new trends, and ways to manage volunteers.

As we go into the holiday season, remember to value what you do!  We all are Servant Leaders, you value diverse opinions, you help others with life issues, you encourage others, you think of others’ needs instead of yourself, and you act with humility.

What a wonderful opportunity to segway into our November Professional Development session with LaTasha Washington, MDiv, MACC, LPC, a counsellor who will talk to us about stress management. Please join us on November 17th at 9 am for a great workshop!
Now: the holiday season is coming, so think up a marvelous Thanksgiving feast, have a well-deserved rest, and let every day of the holiday season be filled with joy.

I would like to say thank you once again for your continued loyalty and faith in VAN. May you and your family have a great holiday that is full of making safe, happy memories.

Thank you for being our treasured member!
Gerlinde Higginbotham
VAN Central Ohio President
