PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
Dear VAN Members,
Happy New Year!
It’s the time of year for new beginnings and resolutions. That means I’m bringing on lots of new people who have made a New Year’s Resolution to volunteer. And also preparing for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! And also compiling numbers from last year. And also setting goals for 2024. Do these things sound familiar to you?
There are some general truths to working with volunteers. VAN has held a lot of Professional Development meetings around those. And we will continue to do that! But we have a lot of seasoned professionals as well in our network. This year our board is taking a look at how VAN can best serve our different members and grow the network. We have some ideas. And we want to hear from all of you, too. What are you hoping to get out of your membership this year?
I am excited to introduce myself as this year’s President of the Volunteer Administrators’ Network. We are planning an exciting year. I hope you take the time to meet me and the rest of our board at our next Professional Development meeting!

OTHER UPDATES
ServeOhio Awards Accepting Nominations: The annual ServeOhio Awards recognize outstanding people, groups and initiatives in each region of the state who make great contributions to their communities through service and volunteerism. A cash award of $1,000 is issued to support the organization that benefited from the winner’s service. ServeOhio is accepting nominations for the 2024 ServeOhio Awards until January 26, 2024. Awards will be presented virtually during National Volunteer Week, April 14-20, 2024. Learn more HERE.
MLK Day 2024: it's right around the corner! What are you doing to honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy on the 29th Anniversary of the only national holiday designated to service of the community. Find ways to get involved or ideas for projects HERE.
